Employment-Based Green Cards
The United States allows individuals from around the world to come into the country to pursue employment opportunities on a temporary or permanent basis. A number of employment-based visa categories are available to foreign nationals whose objective is to work or open businesses in the United States on either a temporary or permanent basis. Most work visa categories require a U.S. employer who will sponsor the foreign national for employment.

The E-2 nonimmigrant visa authorizes a citizen of a treaty country to oversee their investment in the U.S. or work with a U.S. business which is at least 50% owned by citizens of the treaty country.
Strong E-2 cases tell a compelling story. It is as much a sales pitch as it is a legal application. The government wants to see the entrepreneurial spirit of the investor along with the positive local, regional, and/or national economic impact of the investment conveyed through a business plan and represented on your visa application. Assuming the Waiver is approved, the applicant attends a visa interview in his or her home country and is issued an immigrant visa. Whether one qualifies for this program should be carefully examined, as the program all but eliminates family separation for the majority of applicants. Note, this program has been criticized as failing to meet its original purpose as unduly harsh adjudication techniques have neutralized some of the positive effects of the program. For this reason, and the inherent difficulty of a waiver to begin with, a detailed and complete evaluation of each case is critical.
